This Furry version of the Secondary Windscreen is available in limited quantities. When this is available, the item will show "In Stock". This Furry Windscreen has about 1/2 inch hair and thick fleece that works great to stop the wind while allowing sound to travel through it. The Wildtronics Furry Secondary Windscreen should be considered for extremely adverse outdoor applications and should only be considered when using the stereo mics of the Pro Mono-Stereo Parabolic models, as it becomes impractical to hold a large parabolic dish in winds greater than 20 mph. The foam windscreens that come with all Wildtronics Parabolic Microphones can handle up to 10-12 mph (16-19 kmh). With the Wildtronics Furry Secondary Windscreen, the microphones can handle 40 mph (64 kmh) winds / Stereo mics around 20-28 mph (32-51 kmh). The Furry Secondary Windscreen fits over the microphone assembly. It does not obstruct your view through the clear dish.
Please note: Parabolic microphones are generally used for picking up distant subjects. In windy conditions, a lot of wind-generated noise from brush, leaves, and grasses will be picked up, especially when the subject's distance is further away. Recordings made in windy conditions will be degraded by the white noise that wind generates. This is why we say this Furry Secondary Windscreen should only be considered for the stereo mics of the Pro Mono-Stereo Parabolic Microphone. The stereo mics are used for picking up background sounds and you might want to record the effects and sounds of wind with those microphones. If you don't mind gripping the handle tightly and putting up with the parabolic dish nearly flying away, you can use this Furry Secondary Windscreen with the parabolic microphone for recording unique wind sound effects. Winds greater than 30 mph will cause whistling noises from the wind interacting with the surfaces of the dish and any other object near the microphone.
The Furry Secondary Windscreen fits over all our 22-inch Pro Parabolic Microphones. Since the Secondary Windscreen doesn't require the dish to be installed, you can also use it on the stereo microphones for background sound recording without the dish. This accessory allows you to record wind through the trees and many other interesting effects that were previously unobtainable.
