This Smart Phone Adapter will allow you to connect an external, powered microphone to your smartphone, iPad, or tablet. With this adapter, you can use your smartphone, iPad, or tablet as a recorder using a recording app, saving you from buying a dedicated audio recorder. Your device must have a 4 connector, 3.5mm headphone/mic jack using the CITA standard, which most late model devices have. You will also need a commonly available, 3.5mm male-male cable to connect your microphone to this adapter. Please remember that smartphones are rather limited for serious recording usage and that they will only record in mono, single-channel. For better results using a smartphone, consider the Rode AI-Micro adapter. The Rode AI-Micro has its own A/D converter and allows for stereo recording, but your phone must have a lightning or UTG USB input that allows for USB data interfacing.

We recommend using Wildtronics Amplified mic models when using your device as a recorder for best results. If you use unamplifed models, your recordings will be rather noisy because of the poor input quality of smartphones and tablets. When used with Wildtronics Amplified microphone models, turn the gain down as much as you can with your smartphone app, and use the gain control on the Wildtronics Amplified microphone to adjust the gain, using the mic outputs of the microphones. Your recording will typically be 16 bit quality, with less control over your recordings than a dedicated audio recorder. Your recording quality will be dependent on your specific smart phone and app used.

Some recommended apps for Android devices: iRig Recorder by IK Media and Field Recorder by Pfitzinger Voice Design. iRig Recorder is also available for Apple products. There are many other apps available, and you may find one that best suits you. Wildtronics does not offer support for using your smart devices or their apps.

You have 30 days to return the product to us. You will need to have an RMA number given to you by contacting us before returning the product. The product must be shipped in the original, undamaged packaging. There will be a 15% restocking fee. All returned or exchanged items must be in new condition, in their original box, and must include all packing material, blank warranty cards, manuals, and all accessories. Any damage due to use or improper packaging will be deducted from the return amount. Wildtronics, LLC is not responsible for personal data or items left in returned merchandise. You are responsible for shipping costs incurred to return the product and you will not be refunded the original shipping costs to ship the product to you.

Refunds on returned items will be issued in the same payment form as tendered at the time of purchase. Once we receive and inspect the product we will credit your account. Please allow 5-7 days for a credit to appear on your account. If payment was made by check, the refund check will not be issued before 10 business days after the date of purchase.
